Westward Ho!

From the ashes of the neglected Westward Ho Motel in Palm Springs, emerges the ultimate mid-century dessert modern hotel, The Ace. And the Ace is one of the most laidback wedding venues in the country.

Palm Springs, CA

The Ace Hotel and Swim Club

The Ace was originally the Westward Ho and Kings Highway, The Ace’s built in roadside diner was originally a Dennys. You can feel the nostalgia the moment you step on the grounds, it feels fast and loose and it’s a throwback to the work hard, play hard attitude of the 60’s.

Sheltered by the San Jacinto Mountains, the Ace offers up incredible views for a wedding. The commune, where the wedding was held boasts a campfire, your own private pool, and the Amigo Bar to fuel the party. And, Joshua Tree National Park is under an hour away for guests to get out and explore before or after the celebration.

Sean and Libbie get major cool points for throwing a big bash in the desert. Sean, the groom is a film maker and his direction was clutch when it comes to how the photos worked out. The couple chose to do a sunset ceremony, it sounds simple but it isn’t common. A lot of the time we’re shooting ceremonies in harsh mid-day sun, not the case here. We had some of the best soft glow light during their vows and it was paramount. The Commune boasts 3,000 square feet of space, equipped with a campfire, private pool, and the Amigo bar to fuel the fun.

Everything was good, the light, the setting, and the laidback vibe. And once the party hit last call, the couple rode off into Blissville with their friends and family cheering them on, and we were happy to have been a part of it.
