I get to do what I love for work. Up until I found photography, I never put much effort into anything. Not many things in my life came easy to me, I think it's been my stubbornness- not ever doing things I didn't want to do. When I get a camera in my hand and I get to work with creatives and make things, I come to life. I excel at this because I absolutely love it- and it comes natural. This career is a ton of work, but I can outwork anyone at it because I have the deepest passion for what I do.- I promise I won't rest here- with this incredible recognition. - I have to give my clients credit for allowing me to be free & creative. Without them, I'd be just a guy, with a camera. - Thank you from the bottom of my heart. - SF - Online gallery.

Just released VSCO Film 04- their slide film presets for Adobe Photoshop Lightroom & ACR. - Yesterday Melanie & I trekked to Rainier. We hiked and made a few photos for fun. I had an idea the mountain landscapes would be perfect for VSCO'S new film pack. - I love the vivid colors & strong contrasts. The presets offer a huge amount of possibilities. - Above I used; Kodak E100g Provia 100f Kodak E200 Provia 400x - The images were shot on the Canon 5D classic, 24mm TSE, & the 40mm/2.8 pancake. - VSCO did it again. These are the best presets on the market. - SF

My friends over at VSCO have been hard at work developing the new VSCO FILM, FILM PACK 03. Since last week, I've gotten a chance to play around with the presets. I found that they react so different in varied lighting situations. Above, I pulled images from a shoot with full sun, sun breaks, overcast light, & total shade- to give a good idea of what to expect from the new Film Pack. - Presets used. - Polaroid 665 HC Polaroid 669 COLD Fuji FB 100 Fuji FP 100 COOL ++ PX 100 UV+ WARM++ Polaroid 699 ++ - The only customization I made to any of the above looks, was I desaturate the toned B&W looks. - For your comparison- Here is Chris & Nate's portraits I processed with Photoshop more than 1.5 years ago. - I see myself really enjoying these for personal work. - I am happy to keep a dilague going in the comments area. - SF

If you would like a postcard sent to you please send an email to sean(at)seanflanigan(dot)net with the address you’d like the card to arrive. You’ll also need to drop a comment here, on this post, confirming you sent the email to receive a card. This way I know to look in my junk mail for your name if I don’t see an email from you. - If you'd like to purchase a set of 10 postcards you can find info on how to do that here. - I think it's so important to get my art on paper. I'm happy to share my work with anyone who would like a piece of it. I love what I do and I am blessed to do it. This is my way to show my gratitude. - SF

Happy Birthday VSCO, VSCO Keys, And A 15% Discount.

When VSCO Keys came out I was really excited to start using it. My workflow had already been cut in half with the arrival of VSCO Film last November. - What the Keys have done for me is speed up an already snappy workflow. The keys took some getting used to. It also took a minute to customize them to my specific needs. Once I dialed it all in, I've been off to the races- seriously blazing through jobs. - This time last year, a wedding took me two full days to process- that's 16 plus hours behind the computer. This November, it's more like 3-4 hours for a job. I feel like I've gotten my life back. - If you aren't using VSCO Film, I urge you to give it a try. If you are using VSCO Film, I suggest tyring out the Keys for free to see how you can speed up your workflow even more. - Lastly, Happy Birthday to Visual Supply Co. and all of my friends at the company. You all are putting your heart and soul into VSCO and it shows. Thank you for making my professional life easier. - Visual Supply Co. is offering from November 15th to November 25th, a Gift Code for 15% off any purchases from their store. Simply use the code “OneYear15” when checking out in the store. - SF

VSCO Film For LR4

VSCO Film for LR4 is here. - Super fast BW processing. I intended on sharing some color frames but I was having too much fun with the Tri-X & HP5. I used the faded tools and backed off the grain slightly. - I've finally gone 100% LR for processing with the new iteration of the Visual Supply Film Pack. - Check it out if you're into saving time. - Here is a link to my original review of the product. - The above frames were made on some recent and not so recent travels. New York. Chicago. Oaxaca. Barra De Navidad. Florence. - SF

YWBSS Workshop with Jenny J. NYC.

You Wanna Be Startin Somethin #2 is taking us to NYC July 10-11. Jenny & I will be sharing our approach to business and photography including:

- How we approach weddings, from first contact to last dance - Fundamentals of simple reception lighting - Identifying & supporting your brand & voice - Live shoot & post processing (Sean) - Shooting families with a documentary perspective (Jenny)

Limited spots available. Reserve yours here. - Feedback from past participants: - This is the perfect workshop for starting your business on the right foot. In those 48 hours that I will never forget, I was filled with knowledge from how to connect with clients from the first meeting to how to run a wedding day schedule and build connections with families. With inspiration and structure stemmed creativity and being true to yourself, your style and developing your brand. I dug the deepest I have ever done in those 2 days and had the love and support of not only Jenny and Sean but all the fantastic and talented workshop attendees by my side. Being a photographer is a huge investment - not only financially but physically, mentally and spiritually. I made one of the best decisions of my career and life by investing in Sean and Jenny’s workshop. They are a dynamic duo of power- with Jenny’s get down to business side with a flavor of fun and Sean’s brilliant creative mind- they make the perfect team. If you feel like you need structure, inspiration and focus in your business, Jenny and Sean’s workshop is the way to go. You will leave a better photographer as a whole because knowledge is power and this workshop is one power kick in the face. - Karen Obrist - As a working photographer three years into my business I had a lot of reservations about attending a workshop, and I'm so glad I attended! Even though I had a pretty good knowledge of how the wedding day works, what I took away from the workshop was info on how to really MAKE the day of wedding photography run smooth by all the prep work that goes into the days before a wedding. Becoming friends with your clients and all the ways to build relationships with them leading up their wedding is really an essential part of the business. Aside from that, we took a good look at what our own brands stand for and what we want them to stand for. These sorts of exercises are really nice to do in a group setting and hear from other people's perspectives. Along with Jenny and Sean's awesomeness I made new friends with other talented people across the U.S. that attended the class... what's better than that? - Heather Curiel - I went into Jenny and Sean's workshop with really REALLY high expectations because I admire them both immensely, and my expectations were beyond exceeded. J & S were an open book and covered a ton of both the technical and creative aspects of wedding and family photography. I got inspired, I made friends, I had an amazing time and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Some of the best invested $ ever! - Val, the Red Balloon Photography
